Welcome to Blackbird's class page!
PE day is on a Monday- pleasure ensure children have their full PE kit in school on Monday. We also ask that children have a pair of wellies to be kept in school for outdoor learning
Children should be accessing weekly spellings on Spelling Shed and can practice their Maths on Numbots- please ask if you need help with this. Logins for these websites can be found in your child's reading record. Please let us know if you need a new copy of their login!

Week Commencing 28th September 2026
This week, in our outdoor learning lesson, we explored the work of artist Andy Goldsworthy, who creates amazing artwork using natural materials found in the environment. The children became artists themselves and used leaves, sticks and other natural materials to create their very own leaf people! They enjoyed collecting materials, experimenting with different shapes and textures, and using their creativity to bring their leaf people to life. We were so impressed with their imaginative designs! 🍁🎨
Week Commencing 21st September 2026
In Art, the children continued to explore different media to draw. They first looked at various artist works for inspiration and then they had a go at creating their own artwork using 2D shapes. They drew around them, deciding on arrangement and placement and then added colour and interest using various different media.
In Curious Quest, the children needed to help Anna and the crocodile find the gold by inventing a robot who could help them dig for gold. Here are some of their inventions and their beautiful sentences to describe their robot.
The children enjoyed making their own helicopter seeds during our outdoor learning session. They then explored dropping their helicopter seed from various heights. We hope you also enjoy these at home.
Week Commencing 14th September 2026
In Art today, the children built on their learning from last week when we explored different types of lines. This week the focus was to draw lines to represent water. We looked at the artwork of artist Zaria Forman and listened to music inspired by water called Debussy - “Le Mer” - “Play of the Waves” . The children then worked collaboratively to create a large piece of artwork using the line making skills learnt last week. The results were amazing!
In maths this week, the children were practising representing a group of objects on their ten frames. They then had to select the correct numeral to match the representation on their ten frame.
Today, we took our maths learning outdoors! The children went on a number hunt, searching for hidden number cards around the outdoor area. Once they found a number, they had to complete an action that many times as the number represented before placing it on our number track. For example, they might have been challenged to do 5 star jumps or hop 12 times! The children had lots of fun practising their counting skills while getting active at the same time.
